Will the treatment be painful?
Dr. Welk and staff will take every measure to ensure that your root canal procedure is comfortable. It is typical for the procedure to have no discomfort at all. If treatment is needed, we will use local anesthesia to gently numb a concentrated area of your mouth. For most patients, the feeling of numbness usually subsides after 2-3 hours.
Will I need to return to Cascade Endodontics for follow-ups after the procedure is finished?
In certain cases, when it is important to assess complete healing, we ask patients to return to the office for a follow-up six (6) to twelve (12) months after the procedure was finished. Our office will send a reminder notice to you when you are due for a recall appointment.
For most root canal procedures it is not necessary to return to Cascade Endodontics for follow-ups after treatment is complete. It is important that you return to your general dentist for follow up after a root canal procedure to get a permanent restoration on the tooth. In most cases this involves a core buildup and crown. If you have questions about the restoration of the tooth after a root canal, contact your general dentist.
